Contract Administration
In conjunction with our Project Management service offering, WKN typically also acts as Contract Administrator (or Employer’s Representative, depending on the Form of Contract) on the majority of our private and public sector projects.
WKN have extensive experience in Contract Management across all main Forms of Contract, including RIAI, GCCC, FIDIC and NEC. We place strong emphasis on delivering clear Value Add during the drafting of contract clauses and obligations, through proactive and regular engagement with our clients’ appointed solicitors at the pre-contract stage.
Detailed list of Contract Administration functions, carried out in an impartial manner, include:
- Ensure that the Client's and Contactor's contractual obligations are complied with, particularly in respect of mandated timescales for the issue of information and responses.
- Issuing instructions to vary, modify or omit elements of the Contract.
- Monitoring compliance of works on site.
- Authorising the expenditure of Provisional Sums, in consultation with the PQS.
- Carrying out inspections to facilitate the issue of Practical Completion Certificate and Defects Certificate.
- Recording progress and maintaining contemporaneous records to protect the Client in the event of extensions of time, delay or prolongation claims.
- Certifying payment and issuing Interim Certificates of Payment to the Contractor.
- Engaging with the Client's solicitors during the drafting of the Building Contract, incorporating lessons learned and advising on specific clauses, clause wording and associated or consequential risk.
