Client: Quakers

Bloomfield Hospital at Donnybrook, built in 1801, was being operated by the Quakers as a nursing home which had become unsustainable due to the age and layout of the building. The choice facing the Hospital was to close down or to find new modern premises.

WKN was retained to assist the Quakers in:

  • The exploration of all possible options available
  • Organising a competitive tender process amongst developers to provide a new nursing home to a given specification and in a given location
  • Managing detailed negotiations and the documentation process
  • Evaluating tender submission and selecting preferred bidder - Edward Holdings Limited
  • Advising and managing the new build process

In January 2005 Bloomfield Hospital moved into a purpose built world-class 65 bed nursing home at Stocking Lane Rathfarnham. Simultaneously the Quaker Community moved their central library to an adjoining new facility at Stocking Lane and a cash balance was also received.
